Applications of PG 58-22 Bitumen

PG 58-22 is one of the most widely used Performance Grade (PG) bitumens, commonly applied in road construction and asphalt paving. This grade of bitumen is specifically designed for certain climatic conditions. Its main applications include:

• Urban and intercity road construction
• Asphalt paving of highways and expressways
• Airports and runways
• Roads in mountainous and cold regions
• Industrial areas and parking lots

This bitumen is also suitable for regions where the maximum asphalt surface temperature in summer does not exceed 58°C and the minimum air temperature in winter reaches around –22°C. Therefore, PG 58-22 is an excellent choice for cold and mountainous areas, offering a good balance between high-temperature performance and low-temperature flexibility. PG 58-22 is commonly used in road projects designed according to AASHTO or international standards and is among the most frequently used PG grades in Iran.
